Grindavík

Client: School project
When: 2007

Grindavík is a monospaced font family and comes in five weights. It is designed in a four by six grid with only horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines. there are two variations in 14 Characters which can be used when typing in lowercase.

The typeface comes in five weights — Anorexic, Slender, Athletic, Overweight & Obese.

Grindavík was inspired by Wim Crouwel's Gridnik — which was originally designed for typewriters in the late '60s. The plan is to do oblique variations of all the weights, more alternatives, international characters, symbols and some opentype features.

The typeface was made in a boring marketing course, for a made up contemporary art museum called Showcase.
